Inbound Marketing Summit ’09 in Boston (from the archives)

Here are a few of the highlights from my attendance of the Inbound Marketing Summit in Boston (well actually, a hellava drive west of Boston~!)
First, Gillette Stadium proved to be a perfect venue…even if the New England Patriots built it way out in the middle of freakin’ nowhere. But hey, I’m from NWA, I’m accustomed to driving miles through farm country to reach a meeting destination (or a flight~!) We did get to watch a bit of a practice before we were all shooed away from the windows. Kinda Awesome.
The two day Summit was a grinding mashup of amazing information. Ten hours each day and over 70 speakers. In keeping with the ADD nature of the audience, most sessions where kept below 20mins. Wonderful.
I have to say that I am very happy that the Summit was videoed, no way could I type that fast. Besides, I was mostly a mouth-breathing groupie type oogling most of the speakers presenting. Not pretty.
Some of my favorite bits include:
The panel discussion End the Social Media Hype – with Jason Falls, C.C. Chapman, Paul Gillin, Chris Brogan and Brian Solis. This is nicely edited so you can watch either the panel in its entirety or just the highlights.
Sat next to Paul during the Summit. He’s the awesomesauce, if you know what I mean. His main site is here:Paul Gillin A wealth of info, that fella. You can also find a brilliant post about his work and a PDF of his article concerning SMM here: Paul Shines
Next in line for me to get all SMM-groupie’fied about was the one & only Gary Vaynerchuk. Yep, rocked my world. If you EVER come close to getting a chance to hear this human speak–DO IT! His energy is palpable…and he’s darn friendly. Crush It, Wicked Awesome~!
I first got turned onto him with this YouTube vid: Gary in Action Right now he is in the middle of a huge book-release tour…his newest is a MUST have. Truly wish he was coming to NWA, sigh.
Aw, man. Honestly…the entire event was just wall-to-wall SMM brilliance. I really don’t feel I can do it justice. I’ll just leave you with a few more links to explore and I’ll get back to work~!
One parting thought, no matter how much time you spend engaging on Twitter/FB or whatever…there is nothing like being present at an event like this. NOTHING.
